Bond set at $50,000 for Polo man following armed robbery

An Ogle County judge set bond at $50,000 Friday for a Polo man in connection with an armed robbery that took place at a gas station in the village Thursday night.

21-year old Damian Wilson has been arrested on the felony offense of aggravated robbery.

The hold-up took place at the Shell gas station in Polo on Division Avenue. Police say that Wilson planned to purchase a beverage from the store. As the transaction took place, Wilson told the employee that he wanted all of the money from the cash register. He then placed a BB handgun on the counter.

No one suffered any injuries from the incident.

Wilson left the store and then returned and placed the money back on the counter as he knew the worker had called the police. The employee also knew Wilson.

He was apprended by police at his home in Polo a short time later without incident.

Wilson remains in jail in lieu of bond. He returns to court on Wednesday for an arraignment.
