Rochelle Township High School Senior Nathan Keys was the big winner Friday at the 24th Annual Renaissance assembly as he won a car.
The 2006 Chevy Cobalt was donated by Sawicki Motors in Rochelle.
Nathan said that he had 4 chances to win the vehicle since he had perfect attendance this school year. He plans to give the vehicle to his mother. Her car has not been running well lately.
Keys said he also won tickets for all the events at RTHS next school year during the assembly.
The Renaissance program recognizes students and staff for their perfect attendance throughout the school year. 74 percent of students at RTHS were eligible to win prizes this year from area businesses.
The attendance is recorded in each of the 4 quarters for the students.
Counselor Laurie Pillen said that the staff makes sure the students know how important it is to be in the classroom each day.
The students also know when they get in the real world, they need to be a work each day for their job.
The Student Council extra effort award went to Technology Director Marty Brennan. He is retiring after 32 years with the district.
The Interact Club also gave a check to the Flagg-Rochelle Community Park District for $16,500 to use for new bridges at Skare Park. They held a fund raising event this spring for the project as the 2 bridges in the park need to be replaced.
