The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that a portion of Route 38 on the west side of Rochelle will be closed this week for the quiet zone project.
Work will be done on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad crossing starting on Tuesday. The project should be completed on Friday.
Workers plan to install detector loops in the pavement near the crossing.
The proposed detour routes include 1st Avenue, Jack Dame Road, Intermodal Drive, and Illinois 251.
Drivers are asked to be alert for the road closure and use alternate streets when traveling in the area.
