It looks now like the first medical marijuana sales in Illinois will happen Monday. Officials have notified growers that they can start shipping products today to the eight fully licensed dispensaries around the state.
Those shipments are done through a digital tracking system designed to ensure that pot grown in Illinois isn't diverted elsewhere and that pot from outside Illinois isn't introduced into the pipeline.
Illinois has about 33-hundred patients approved to use pot, with a few thousand more applications pending.
