1 person is dead after a pick-up truck struck a utility pole early this morning near Creston.
The crash took place on Ritchie Road, just west of Woodlawn Road.
Reports indicate that the truck snapped the utility pole in half after it left the roadway. Wires were down in the area as electric power was lost in Creston for a period of time.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The engine to the pick-up truck was cold when emergency personnel arrived at the location as the crash may have occurred earlier in the morning. Police were informed of the incident a short time after 4.
There was extensive damage done to the truck.
The accident remains under investigation by Ogle County Sheriff's Police. The name of the driver has not been released at this time.
